Dr. Candace Waters-Woodward is a licensed therapist with a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and more than 21 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults across a wide range of clinical settings. Her background includes work in private practice, outpatient behavioral health, correctional facilities, university counseling centers, schools, and residential treatment programs, where she has provided both therapy and psychological assessment services.
Dr. Woodward is passionate about helping individuals recognize their resilience, navigate life’s challenges, and create meaningful change. She works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, academic or workplace stress, life transitions, trauma, and the lasting impacts of abuse. Her approach is psychodynamic and integrative, drawing from a variety of evidence-based interventions to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs and goals.
Known for her warm, grounded, and nonjudgmental style, Dr. Woodward prioritizes creating a therapeutic environment where clients feel safe, supported, and genuinely heard. She believes strong therapeutic relationships are foundational to healing and growth.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Woodward is deeply committed to mentorship and professional development. She enjoys supporting students and emerging clinicians as they strengthen their skills and develop confidence in their work. She is also a Board-Approved Clinical Supervisor with the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors.
