Mildred "Milly" Mends, LMSW

Mildred “Milly” Mends, LMSW, is a Licensed Master Social Worker and graduate of George Mason University who brings warmth, curiosity, cultural humility, and a wide-angle perspective to her work with individuals and families.

Originally from Ghana, Milly brings both lived and professional understanding to her immigrant-informed approach to care. Her professional experience spans clinical practice, psychosocial assessment, court-involved systems, federal service, and venture capital. It’s an uncommon combination that has shaped the way she understands people: not in isolation, but within the families, cultures, communities, identities, and larger systems that influence their lives.

At The Holistic Hive, Milly works across both our clinical and forensic spaces. As a therapist, she has a particular passion for supporting people of color as they heal from trauma, navigate eating disorders and recovery, explore identity, work toward sobriety, and create meaningful change in their lives. Her approach is holistic, empathetic, and culturally responsive, with space for the complexity of each person’s lived experience.

In her forensic work, Milly brings experience in psychosocial assessment, risk and safety assessment, crisis intervention, and evidence-based clinical practice with children, adults, and families. She is particularly interested in the intersection of mental health, family dynamics, immigration, culture, and legal systems. She approaches complex evaluations with curiosity and care while remaining firmly grounded in objectivity.

Milly speaks Twi and continues to strengthen her American Sign Language skills as part of her commitment to culturally and linguistically responsive care. In both her clinical and forensic work, she brings thoughtfulness, cultural humility, and a deep respect for the complexity of the people and families she serves.
