Venessa Bowers is a licensed clinical social worker and forensic practitioner with extensive experience in court-involved family systems. She is licensed in Maryland (LCSW-C) and in additional states: Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Maine, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Virginia, and Texas.
Ms. Bowers specializes in high-conflict custody matters, providing court-involved services including reunification therapy, parenting capacity evaluations, and comprehensive custody evaluations. She is trained in trauma-informed, attachment-based interventions and is recognized for her ability to navigate complex family dynamics while maintaining clinical neutrality and adherence to legal standards and is recognized as an expert witness. Her work frequently involves collaboration with attorneys, courts, and child-serving agencies to support safe, developmentally appropriate family outcomes.
As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and Certified Reunification Therapist, Ms. Bowers integrates evidence-based and trauma-responsive approaches into her forensic and clinical work. She is also a Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Facilitator (TCTSY-F) and Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT), bringing a unique, body-based lens to trauma recovery when clinically appropriate.
Her broader clinical expertise includes trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), perinatal mental health, eating disorders, and attachment disruptions. She utilizes a range of evidence-based modalities, including EMDR, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), CBT-E, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and mindfulness-based interventions, tailored to meet the needs of individuals and families across the lifespan.
Ms. Bowers holds a Master of Social Work from Indiana University and a Master of Arts from Purdue University. She is the Clinical Director of The Holistic Hive, where she leads both clinical and forensic services with a commitment to ethical practice, cultural responsiveness, and systems-informed care. She is a Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners Approved Supervisor.
A creative force in nonprofit leadership, Venessa also leads The Honeybee Collective, a 501(c)(3) initiative of The Holistic Hive dedicated to building and sustaining communities of care. Through innovative, relationship-centered programming, the Collective expands access to mental health support, family education, and early intervention services for children and caregivers across the Eastern Shore. Its work centers connection, prevention, and collective healing—ensuring that families are supported not just individually, but within strong, responsive community ecosystems.
In addition, she leads Beeline Creative, a boutique marketing and branding company that supports mission-driven mental health and wellness organizations. With a strong background in grant writing, fundraising, communications, and public relations, she helps nonprofits amplify their voice, strengthen their messaging, and expand their impact within the communities they serve.
She is also the founder of Bee Flight School, an innovative practicum and training model designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world clinical practice. Through immersive, community-based training, Bee Flight School prepares emerging clinicians to work competently within complex systems, including forensic, clinical, and community care settings. The program emphasizes hands-on experience, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the development of clinicians who are not only skilled, but adaptable, ethical, and grounded in trauma-informed, systems-aware care.
Venessa is a sought-after speaker and clinical trainer, known for her work at the intersection of mental health, trauma, and court-involved family systems. She teaches communication and social work at the collegiate level and provides clinical supervision to interns across academic institutions nationwide.
